PathFactory is pleased to announce Product Release B, building off of some great initiatives rolled out in 2021’s Release A. See how you can make the most out of your marketing initiatives with the new and improved functionality!
Platform Updates
External code update for appearances
In an effort to create a more consistent experience while working within the platform settings, we have updated how external code gets applied to Explore appearance configurations, Microsites, and VEX appearances.
The Advanced Customization section within Explore Appearance Settings has been replaced with an External Code drop down option where you can search for a specific code snippet from within the External Code library. Header and Footer labels are shown so you can easily differentiate between them. This External Codes drop down has also been applied to the Microsite Builder and Virtual Events tab of the appearance settings.
We’ve also migrated any existing code in your Advanced Customization section in the Explore Appearance settings to the External Code library with the following naming convention:
Allow all visitors and disallow specific groups within access protection
We have made it super easy to identify the domains/emails you would like to give access to your Tracks, Explore pages, Microsites and VEX events. Now when selecting email access protection, you have the ability to select “All Visitors” which allows anyone access but still requires them to submit their email address for link access. This provides you as a Marketer with another way to de-anonymize your unknown audience.
We’ve also added a “Disallow Groups” section, letting you quickly identify any emails/domains that should not be allowed access.

Campaign Tools
Clone Microsites to easily scale your landing pages
As you know from 2021 Release A, we recently released a major feature in Campaign Tools called Microsite Builder and your feedback has been great so far.
Do you have a Microsite you’re proud of and want to duplicate it for another Marketing effort? Well now you can! When creating a new Microsite, you now have the option to clone from an existing Microsite. You can then select which components of the Microsite you’d like to clone. This includes the setup, tracks, landing pages and/or navigation. You can also clone directly from within an existing Microsite with the clone button available next to the name.
Visibility status added to Microsite landing pages
You can now control the visibility of your landing pages within Microsite Builder, making it easy to take them from draft to published mode once you’re done editing. If you choose to make the page private, the link will not be accessible by anyone. If you choose to make it public, then anyone who has access to the Microsite page will be able to view it. Access protection still applies in these scenarios.
To change the status, simply hit edit on the landing page and configure the visibility type within the pop-up modal.
Add search engine directives to Microsites
We know you have lots of questions about the impact on SEO with Microsites! We hear it all the time and have addressed your concerns.
You can now leverage PathFactory’s flexible settings to choose how you want to handle crawlers on your Microsite pages so that it is in line with your search engine optimization strategy. Visit our SEO article to learn more about these different setting options.
The search engine directive setting applied to the Microsite will override the setting applied to the tracks within the Microsite.
Social and OG fields added to Microsites
Microsite pages now have automatic social and OG (Open Graph) tags generated based on the content used and your PathFactory environment. Open Graph meta tags control how URLs are displayed when shared on social channels. You’ll notice the tags if you view the page source of your microsite landing pages.
Carousel option available for tracks on Microsite landing pages
Now you can format your Microsite landing pages with carousel functions to display your content track assets, similar to the layout options with Explore pages. Easily let the visitor scroll through multiple assets while maintaining a clean and streamlined view of your landing page.
You can set the layout of your landing page at the Microsite Builder appearance configuration level.
You can also override the layout at the individual track level within the landing page editor tool. We anticipated that you would like some flexibility on the carousel layout for “Featured Content” – the stuff you specifically curate, and we will be addressing this in a future release.
Easily see the content that has already been added from tracks to Microsite pages
When adding additional content to your Microsite landing page track or featured content section, any assets that have already been added will be greyed out in the list so that it is easier for you to see what is still available to add.
Easily search for and add content assets to tracks within the Content Library
In the past, when selecting a content asset in the library and opening up the right view pane, you had the option to add that asset to any Target or Recommend track right from this area. However, long lists of tracks made it cumbersome to scroll through and select which tracks you wanted to include that asset on.
Now you can search for specific track names within both the Target and Recommend sections to quickly add the asset to the appropriate track(s).
Updated the name of Website Promoters to Website Campaigns
In order to create better consistency within the naming of our Campaign Tools features, we have updated the name of Website Promoters to Website Campaigns.
Customize the language of all filter tag options within Explore
We want to ensure that you can fully optimize the usage of all filter types on Explore pages to fit your needs. With this new ability to edit filter titles, you can personalize them to be more relevant for your audiences and content, so that visitors can see a user-friendly name for the filter. For example instead of “Filter by Persona” you might say “Filter by Job Function”.
Search for topics in the Explore page search bar
In order to make it easier for your visitors to navigate to the content they care about within your Explore pages, we have added the ability to search by topic name. This is in addition to the existing ability to search by asset title.
Monthly timeline report added to Path Analytics
Have you been itching to see a timeline view of performance across your tracks? Well now you can! With our newest Path Analytics addition, you can assess the month over month trends across your various Target and Recommend tracks, taking into account a wide variety of performance measures.
Simply navigate to Path Analytics > Campaign Tools > Reports and scroll to the Track Insights section at the bottom.
VEX
Add search engine directives to VEX event pages
You can now leverage PathFactory’s flexible settings to choose how you want to handle crawlers on your VEX pages so that it is in line with your search engine optimization strategy. Visit our SEO article to learn more about these different setting options.
Any supplemental content items within VEX sessions will have a “No Index, No Follow” setting applied. This is due to the fact that visiting a supplemental content asset with a VEX session straight from a search engine result may be a jarring experience as the video is the primary asset.
Social and OG fields added to VEX landing pages
VEX landing pages now have automatic social and OG (Open Graph) tags generated based on the content used and your PathFactory environment. Open Graph meta tags control how URLs are displayed when shared on social channels. You’ll notice the tags if you view the page source of your VEX landing pages.
Visitor journey data in VEX analytics
Our team is excited to be able to provide you with granular, visitor journey data for your VEX events! Now you can navigate to your VEX event analytics and select the “Visitor Journey Data” drop down option in the menu. From here, you can filter by date, session name or session group name(s) to get at the data you want to specifically analyze. This data will be available 30 minutes after the visitor’s session ends.
Understand what session(s) and asset(s) each visitor engaged with as well as:
- Total assets viewed
- Average view time
- Total engagement time
- Unique assets viewed
- Supplemental content asset views
- Supplemental asset view time
Carousel option available for session groups on VEX landing pages
Now you can format your VEX landing pages with carousel functions to display your sessions. Easily let the visitor scroll through all sessions per group while maintaining a clean and streamlined view of your landing page.
You can set the layout of your landing page at the Virtual Event appearance configuration level.
You can also override the layout at the session group level within the landing page editor tool.
Configure the supplemental content header background color
In order to create consistent branding opportunities and cohesive appearance configurations, we have added the ability to set the background color for the supplemental content header.
Website Tools
Reorder Featured Content
The “Featured” carousel within the Concierge Website Component allows users to curate and display a group of content from their PathFactory Content Library to be shown as a carousel on a webpage. Now within Website tools you can easily reorder the sequence of this content to control the order it is presented to your website visitors. Simply click and drag the handle next to any selected asset to reorder the list of selected content.
Recently visited to not show the current page
Previously when looking at the recently viewed carousel, this section would not only show content that you have recently engaged with, but also the page that you were currently on. Although we like to deliver information in real-time, we thought this might be a little too recent! Now this carousel will no longer show the page that you are currently on, providing a cleaner view of the content you may want to return to.
UI updates
There have been several UI updates made to the Website Components this release to provide a better user experience around the activation of recommendations on your website. This includes:
- All carousels with less than three recommendations now provide consistent look by left aligning all elements (thumbnail and text). Previously they would be centered.
- Carousel titles no longer line-break mid-word. The line break will happen at a logical point between full words.
- Recommendations which are presented in a pop-up light box are now distributed more evenly with equal space along the top, bottom, right and left edges, ensuring a more balanced visual appearance.
- Extra padding at the bottom of every carousel has been removed to make the look consistent with the webpage it is on. If you wish to have more padding around any carousels we recommend doing so using css. We are happy to assist in creating this code for you.
Mobile experience updates
For those visitors who access your websites on mobile devices, the experience of Guide is now consistent with that of desktop. The Guide will slide out with animation for a better user experience, instead of persistently rendering on the page.
Also, the issue of Guide not appearing on mobile devices when the time to appear was set to zero has been addressed.
You’ve made it to the end! A+ for reviewing the B Release. Bravo. We know this was a long one, but better to share because we care.
