A simulive session allows you to display pre-recorded videos in a “simulated live” format. You can promote simulive sessions as live without needing to do live broadcasting the day of. This is a great way to reuse content, saving time and money, as well as host sessions across multiple time zones. You can combine simulive videos with other functions of live sessions, such as Q&A discussions with a moderator and chat tools.

Attendees of simulive sessions can pause the video, adjust the volume, seek backwards, and select the Live option to go to the relative time in the video. Attendees will not be able to seek forward. If attendees enter the session late, they will be taken to the relative “live” time in the video automatically.
Create a simulive session
To create a simulive session, you must first create a live session. You will then make this session simulive by choosing video content from your PathFactory content library. If the video you want to use isn’t already in your content library, upload it now; read Add Content for more information.
Warning:
Simulive does not work for Vidyard videos or Vimeo Basic videos. However, Vimeo Plus, Pro, Business and Premium videos do work.
- In the main navigation, select Virtual Events.
- Find the event you want to edit and select its name.
- Select the Sessions tab.
- Find the existing live session you want to be simulive and in the far right, select Configure.
- Scroll to the Live Session section.
- Select Live Content Type > Content Library.
- Select the Select Live Content Video button.
- Find the video you want to use for this session. Use the search bar to filter your content.
- Select the Select Live Content Video button.
- Select Make Video Simulive.
Now that you’ve made the session simulive, you must decide what happens when the session reaches its end time. You can choose between two options:
- Convert the session to on demand
- Leave the session as simulive
Convert an ended simulive session to an on-demand session
Simulive sessions automatically convert to on-demand sessions when the end time is reached.
You only have to set up the on-demand session if it’s going to use a different video.
- Scroll to the On Demand Session section.
- Select the Select On Demand Video button.
- Choose the video you want to use.
- Select the Select On Demand Video button.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save.
