This guide explains how to set up and manage social media sharing settings for your content tracks and Content Experiences. These settings allow you to control how your content is shared across platforms, providing flexibility for different campaigns, pages, or general distribution.
You will start by creating a default configuration that ensures consistency for most of your content, keeping your messaging cohesive. Then, you’ll learn how to create additional configurations tailored for specific events or campaigns, allowing for further customization. With these settings in place, you can confidently manage how your content is shared, ensuring it always carries the correct message and format.
This guide walks you through the following processes:
- Navigate to the social media sharing settings page.
- Set up a default, generic sharing configuration for consistent social sharing.
- Create new sharing groups for specific needs.
- Edit or delete existing sharing configurations.
How to Navigate to Sharing Settings
To begin setting up your sharing configurations, you first need to access the Links & Sharing section in PathFactory.
- In PathFactory, open the Platform Settings menu and then select Links & Sharing as shown in the screen capture below.
- You are now on the Links & Sharing Configuration page. On the left side, you’ll see a list of existing configuration groups, to which you can add and edit custom configurations. This is also where you will want to set up a default configuration following the instructions in the next step.
How to Set Up a Default Sharing Configuration
Setting up a default sharing configuration ensures that all content shared from PathFactory has pre-planned fallback messaging and sharing configurations if no specific sharing group is applied.
- Select the Default configuration on the left side of the page.
- On the Default Links Configuration menu, fill in the following fields:
- Logo Link: This will be the URL associated with the logo when shared from your content.
- Email Subject: Add a default subject line that will be used when someone shares your content via email.
- Email Message: Provide a message that will appear when your content is shared via email.
- Handle: Add your organization’s social media handle to be used when sharing content.
- Social Sharing Message: Add a default message to be used across all platforms when someone shares your content.
- Select the social media platforms or links you want to enable for sharing.
- When you are done editing the settings for the new configuration, click Save.
With the default setup complete, your content will always have a consistent set of information attached when shared.
How to Create a New Group of Sharing Settings
Once your default settings are in place, you can create additional sharing groups for specific campaigns, events, or special content. These groups will override the default configuration when applied, allowing you to tailor the sharing parameters. This flexibility enables you to have multiple sharing setups, ensuring that each campaign or content type is shared with the right messaging and settings.
- To create a new, custom share setting, click on Add Configuration.
- Enter the name of the new sharing group. To proceed, click Add Share Configuration.
- You will now see the new sharing configuration group added to the overall list of share configurations. Select it to fill in its associated fields (Logo Link, Email Subject, Social Sharing Message, etc.), just like you did for the default configuration. But this time, customize the settings to fit the specific campaign or event it is going to be used with.
Edit or Delete a Sharing Configuration
To make changes or clean up configurations, follow the steps below.
- Select the configuration you want to edit or delete.
- To edit a configuration, select it from the left column and then on the main menu modify any of the fields or links. To lock in your changes, click Save.
- To rename a configuration, hover over its name and then click the pencil icon to edit the name. Follow the prompts to complete the edit.
- To delete a configuration, hover over its name and then click the trash bin icon. Follow the prompts to complete the deletion.
With these settings in place, you can confidently share your content knowing it will always carry the right message and format across all platforms.
